POLITICAL HARD BALL

Only the names are omitted to protect the innocent.

Certain town officials and a taxpayer-paid employee have stepped up their campaign to quiet the voice of dissent and inquiries from elected representatives of the people. Two town councillors were ALLEGEDLY threatened by a taxpayer-paid town employee. He ALLEGEDLY advised them that he would "crush them" and that he was "bullet proof." He also ALLEGEDLY said he had "people watching them." Until the two councillors come forward officially, all I can do is point people towards the situation and make the person ALLEGEDLY responsible for the threats to understand that this will not be allowed to continue. There are other avenues to seek redress. The councillors involved owe it to the people who elected them and to all the citizens of Fort Erie to come forward and put an end to this. This is a very serious situation. It is one thing to disagree with someone's opinion or method of representing their constituents, but to threaten them for inquiring or expecting accountability from an arm of the local government is beyond the pale. Personally, I hope the person who ALLEGEDLY threatened elected officials turns his attention to The Strand. Because, if he threatens me, he will get it back in spades. I welcome a lawsuit from him. If he does sue or threaten me, he exposes himself. Bring it on!
